Whimsical Wedding in the Woods

The woodsy, whimsical theme of this wedding is so magical!  I really enjoyed looking at all the beautiful details of this ceremony.  The flower choice combined with the gold and the woods backdrop makes this one of the most beautiful events we've seen!

Photographer Kaysha Weiner: As silly as it may sound, the inspiration of this shoot started with a single feather, a white feather dipped in a majestic gold. From there the idea evolved into a regal color scheme of eggplant, deep reds and pinks while accenting the pieces with gold. Think of a bride and groom running into the fields behind a magnificent castle and sitting down to a table-scape fit for royalty. From there we wanted a cake that stood out yet was still as pure as the gold dipped feather, and Sweet & Saucy Shop completely nailed our inspiration.

Since the landscape was lush and green surrounded by trees and fruits of the season the cake and florals were kept simple to focus attention on the gold dipped feathers. With lush textured Florals by Jenny, and the dark wood table from Town & Country, the contrasting gold really pulled the whole look together. Our bride looked stunning in a sand hued dresses with ethereal chiffon ruffles from Ruche and delicate gold jewelry from Stella & Dot. A loose side-swept braid, and a bold pink mauve colored lip completed her simple yet refined look.

DIY Tuesdays - DIY Burlap Ring Pillow

DIY has become a staple word for brides to be lately.  So many brides are cutting costs and putting their own special touches by opting to DIY.  I love looking through DIY wedding ideas and so I created DIY Tuesdays on our blog to showcase our favorite DIY of the week.  (Seriously, feel like I said DIY like 10 times!)

This week's DIY is a Burlap Ring Pillow!  Burlap was VERY popular in 2012 and I predict it will still be popular in 2013 with so many rustic themed weddings!  I loved this post by Ruffled Blog with step by step instructions to make the process SO easy!  Try it yourself and let me know how it turns out!

For this project you will need:
-piece of burlap fabric or small burlap bag
-length of jute twine
-large plastic needle (big enough to string the twine)
-needle and thread
-pins
-iron
-scissors

Instructions:
1. Cut one large piece of burlap material about 9 x 13″ or a small burlap bag
2. Fold each edge over about 1/2″ and press with a iron (you can also pin into place if an iron is not handy)

3. Fold the entire piece in half long ways.
4. Sew along two of the open sides. Make sure to leave one side open.
5. Stuff your pillow with any sort of polyfill filling and sew remaining side closed.
6. String a piece of jute twine on a large needle.

7. Poke needle through middle of pillow, and back up again about 1″ apart.
8. Tie two ends together in a knot.
9. Finish up with a bow!

Source: Ruffled Blog - DIY is a collaboration between Blue Label vendor BurlapFabric.com and etsy vendor Emily Zych of whichgoose — it’s a burlap ring pillow that’s both supremely easy to make AND super cute! Better yet, if you’re short on time or even burnt out on DIY projects, you can buy one of Emily’s ring pillows on her shop.

Romantic, Earthy and Rustic Wedding

When it came to pulling together the fine details of the day, the couple enlisted the help of wedding planner Alexandra Kolendrianos. “Alexandra was incredible,” says the bride. “Our wedding would not have been as wonderful without her.” Brianne found most of her big-day inspiration on Pinterest. “It was my best friend from the moment we got engaged!” she says. After a quick brainstorming session with both Alexandra and Mindy Rice of Mindy Rice Floral and Event Design, Brianne trusted that their visions were aligned. She says, “They completely understood the style and vibe. We really wanted the venue to speak for itself and create a feeling around that.” For the flowers, the bride wanted a collection of muted, earthy tones with a fresh, romantic feeling.

Brianne opted for a body-skimming column of ivory lace of Claire Pettibone, a designer that perfectly captured the ethereal, not-too-girly femininity she desired. “The Claire Pettibone flagship store is right in Los Angeles and I ended up falling in love with the first dress I tried (out of 10 styles),” says the bride. To satisfy the fashion leanings of her 9 attendants, Brianne turned to the cult label Stone Cold Fox to design custom-made silk dresses. “I was most concerned about finding bridesmaid dresses that had traditional elements but weren’t cliche,” says the bride. “Stone Cold Fox came to mind because their aesthetic is one that I love and wear everyday in my life: relaxed, bohemian, and never cookie-cutter.” After settling on a palette of pale pink, rose and peach, they designed three different shapes: off-the-shoulder, scooped back and strapless, all sharing a common hand knit lace bodice.

Wednesday Pinspirations

So excited to announce Wednesday Pinspirations!  I'm constantly browsing pinterest and see SO many things I absolutely adore and would love to share with you! Here is the first set:

Shabby Chic Handmade Wedding Cake Table
How adorable is this wedding cake table!?  It could be so versatile and could be used for several different wedding applications such as a candy table, a picture table, a guest book or guest tree table, etc, etc, etc!  See the original pin here.

Oh how I <3 this!  I love to see dogs and other animals featured in weddings!  Not to mention her dress is so beautiful! See original pin here.

Using barrels as a table stand for a dessert bar is such a great idea and adds a rustic feel to the wedding!  Loving the hanging light as well!  See original pin here.

How beautiful is this!?  And they used the 2013 wedding color of the year which is emerald!  Mint/emerald with light pinks and gold will be SO huge in 2013.  I've already seen many, many uses of these colors! See original pin here.

Here's another beautiful use of the mint/emerald, light pinks, and gold on a wedding cake!  Original pin here.

Barn weddings were hugely popular in 2012 and I believe will remain popular into 2013.  Rustic weddings are my personal favorite and I love to see different decorations and uses of rustic decor.  The chandeliers give the rustic barn a more formal touch and add to the elegance.  So beautiful!  See original pin here.

Well, that's all for our first installment of Wednesday Pinspirations.  Don't forget to checkout our etsy shop through the link at the top of the page to see our beautiful, handmade wedding stationary and also like our Facebook page to stay on top of current promotions and new designs!

Vintage Valentine's Day Wedding by Hey Gorgeous Events + Elizabeth In Love Photography

It can be tricky creating a pink-infused wedding without it falling into princess birthday party territory but Hey Gorgeous, Events by Rhiannon Nicole totally nailed it with this sweet, feminine, vintage-inspired photo shoot. Heart-shaped cookies, vintage tumblers and striped barber straws are the perfect combination for a girly yet playful Valentine’s Day wedding. And pale pinks and creamy ivories paired with gray brings a fun, modern twist to the whimsical and romantic theme. I'm in love with the dreamy photography of Elizabeth In Love.
